Top of the Pops records were compilation records that tied-in with the popular British TV show Top of the Pops. They were released in multiple countries to varying degrees of success, notably released in the US as King's Road Superhits.
Top of the Pops records were first released in the late 1960's, to massive success in the UK. These records were almost entirely comprised of soundalike covers of popular songs performed by studio musicians. The quality of these covers varied. The record covers were perhaps one of the main selling points, depicting a different scantily-clad woman for each volume. All in all, almost 100 volumes were produced, ending in about 1985.
